Wheres Ollie When You Need Him?

After Oliver Perez's bad start against the Phillies the Mets are left with a tough decision. What to do with Oliver Perez? The Mets lefty has been a total bust after signing a 36 million dollar deal. Minors? Bullpen? If the Mets were to bump Perez who would replace him? Niese hasn't lived up to his promise and other options such as Figgy and Fossum aren't so appealing either. In my opinion I don't see why the Mets gambled on Perez. You bring a guy for 12 mill a year when you can get your pick of Lowe or Burnett for either 3 or 4 mill more a year respectively. I know they need to save payroll, but for a NY team 3-4 mill more a year wouldn't kill Wilpon. The bullpen has been good at holding leads but the starters have been great at taking away the bullpen chances, except a Mr. Johan Santana. I am a fan of Omar Minaya, but he fumbles in small oppertunities to add pieces that build a championship team. Johan, K-Rod, and the Putz/Sean Green trade have been wonderfully sculpted, but for small cases like passing Lowe for Perez have turned out to be horrendous. Bottom line is I would like to see Redding come back to be a short term stop gapper and Perez in the bullpen to soak up innings for an overworked bullpen. What does happen though remains to be seen.
